The GLARING Hole in Evangelical Efforts to Understand Mormonism | Hello Saints' Blind Spot
Pastor Jeff McCullough has built a popular platform through his Hello Saints channel, engaging with members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through a warm, conversational, and relationship-focused approach.
But is something missing from that conversation?
In this episode, I take a critical look at Pastor Jeff's approach to Mormonism—and the apparent absence of substantive conversations with people who have actually left the Church.
I discuss my own early interactions with Jeff, his collaborations with believing Latter-day Saints, the emphasis on interfaith dialogue, and the larger question of whether you can really understand Mormonism without seriously engaging with the people who ultimately rejected it.
I also examine a broader issue: the difference between taking someone's beliefs seriously and actually demonstrating that those beliefs are true.
If we're going to discuss Mormonism, Christianity, scripture, and competing supernatural claims, shouldn't evidence ultimately be the standard?
My challenge to Pastor Jeff is simple: get outside the echo chamber. Talk to ex-Mormons—not as token guests, but as people with substantive reasons for leaving the faith.
Until then, I think an important part of the Mormon story remains missing from the conversation.
