INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM IS UNDER ATTACK

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is suing Mormon News Roundup. Your support keeps the truth on the air.

WHY MORMON NEWS ROUNDUP MATTERS

Mormon News Roundup is independent coverage of LDS news, including the stories the institutional Church won’t tell you. A new episode goes up every night at 9:30 PM Eastern.

It is a home for members, former members, and the curious who want honesty, transparency, and accountability. There is no institution, no sponsor, and no church funding behind it.

Viewers are what keep it going. Every patron, every channel member, and every person who watches and shares makes the next episode possible.

ABOUT THE LAWSUIT

In 2025, the Church, through its intellectual property arm, Intellectual Reserve, Inc., sent legal letters over the use of the word “Mormon” to independent creators including Mormon Stories Podcast, Radio Free Mormon, Mormon Discussions Podcast, and Mormon News Roundup.

Mormon News Roundup is now in legal proceedings with the Church over these trademark and branding issues. This is a civil trademark dispute, not a criminal matter.

It comes after the Church’s 2018 push to stop using the name “Mormon,” yet the Church still claims legal control of the word. In our view, this is an attempt to control language and chill criticism and commentary.

Defending against it costs real legal money, and that is why your support matters now.
