How the LDS Church Covers Up Its Own History to Create a Faith-Promoting FALSE Narrative
For generations, Latter-day Saints were presented with a faith-promoting version of their own history. But what happens when we go back to the original manuscripts and compare them with the official published record?
In this episode of Mormon News Roundup, we examine the archival evidence behind the *History of the Church* and the ways later scribes, compilers, and Church historians altered, redacted, and reshaped the historical record.
We look at posthumous additions, retroactive prophecies, altered identities, sanitized accounts of Joseph Smith's behavior, deleted passages, and the transformation of third-person source material into first-person narratives that could appear to have been written or dictated by Joseph Smith himself.
We also examine statements from LDS historians acknowledging serious problems with the traditional historical record and ask the bigger question:
Was the historical record altered to preserve and promote a faith-confirming version of Joseph Smith and the early Church?
This is an investigation into the gap between the traditional LDS narrative and what the surviving archival evidence actually shows.
