Saturday's Warrior: The Most Unforgettable Mormon Movie Ever? | Throwback Thursday
It's Throwback Thursday!
Sometimes it's fun to step away from the latest Mormon news and revisit the stories, movies, and moments that shaped LDS culture. Few films capture a particular era of Mormon pop culture quite like the 1989 adaptation of *Saturday's Warrior*.
Originally created as a stake roadshow before becoming a hugely popular stage musical, *Saturday's Warrior* eventually made its way to the big screen in one of the most memorable—and wonderfully campy—films in LDS history.
In this throwback review, I revisit the movie's unforgettable songs, over-the-top performances, unique theology, and the nostalgia that still keeps people talking decades later. Whether you grew up watching it every year, have fond memories of performing it, or you're seeing it for the very first time, this review is a fun trip back to a fascinating chapter of Mormon culture.
What are your memories of *Saturday's Warrior*? Did you love it, cringe at it, or both? Let me know in the comments!
