I Was a HUGE Britt Hartley Fan… Until This Happened

Watch on YouTube

I’ve been hesitant to make this video because I know it’s going to get pushback—but I can’t keep it to myself anymore.

This video is about my experience with Britt Hartley from No Nonsense Spirituality—someone I’ve followed, respected, and supported for years.

If you’re not familiar with her work, here’s a quick overview:

To be clear: I’ve been a fan. I’ve watched dozens of her long-form videos, followed her short-form content, and even reached out at one point to help support her YouTube channel. She’s one of the most prolific voices in the ex-Mormon space.

But recently, things went sideways.

Britt issued copyright strikes on two of my videos. One of them was ultimately restored by YouTube after I filed a counter-notification under fair use. The other? I chose not to fight it—even though I likely could have won—because I didn’t want to escalate the situation.

Instead, I removed all of her content from my channel and reached out privately to resolve things. I offered to make any edits she wanted. In return, I asked for one thing: removal of the strike.

She refused.

This video breaks down:

What actually happened
How YouTube’s copyright system works
Why I believe this situation could have been handled differently
The philosophical difference between content protection vs message amplification

I also address what I see as inconsistencies in how content attribution is handled across platforms.

This is NOT a hate video. I still respect a lot of what Britt stands for.

But I do think this situation raises important questions.

So I’m asking you:

EDIT added MAY 15, 2026: Matt Dillahunty just uploaded an entire 60-minute NNS video to his channel and did NOT face any copyright issues ([YouTube video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp42RKNVzuc&utm_source=chatgpt.com)). Both Britt and her online manager Anthony were in the live chat for this premiere, so I had a chance to message them.

I asked them both live if they were planning on striking Matt's video since it used an hour of BH's content.

@nononsensespirituality said this:
“@MormonNewsRoundup Man, when you hold a grudge, you really hold it.”
My response:
Copyright strikes are a very serious issue on YouTube. So yeah, It's kind of a BFD. BTW, I am still waiting 5 more days for her strike to expire. GRUDGE? I'd lol if this wasn't so important.

Britt’s digital manager, @AnthonyAmbriz, said the following in live chat: “@MormonNewsRoundup you have shown me multiple times now to be disingenuous over a misunderstanding.” My response: “Disingenuous”? I don’t understand that characterization or what specifically that refers to. Also, Anthony claimed that he wanted to dialog with me through email, but never responded to my email to him.

It was a simple question to both of them, are they going to strike Matt's channel for using an hour of BH's content? They BOTH refused to answer, instead attacking my motives and character. Honestly, what a joke....

Summary:
I’m beginning to realize that BH has some kind of personal issue with me, though I’m not sure what it might be. Honestly, I have no idea.

I should update the thumbnail to read: “ALL NONSENSE SPIRITUALITY”
