Why Mormon Vicarious Temple Rituals Can Wait Until the Millennium | The Numbers Don't Lie
Welcome back to the Mormon News Roundup — where we cover all the weird, wild, and wasteful happenings in Mormonism. In this episode, I make a bold but doctrinally supported claim:
👉 There’s no theological need to be doing temple rituals right now.
In fact, prioritizing these Masonic-inspired ceremonies over helping real people in real pain may be morally indefensible.
🔹 Part 1: What Mormon Doctrine Actually Says About the Millennium
The Church teaches that temple work will be the main event during the Millennium — when names of all humanity will be revealed, rendering our current genealogy efforts obsolete.
🔹 Part 2: Let’s Do the Math
We run the numbers on how long it would actually take to perform ordinances for every human who’s ever lived — and spoiler alert: it’s not that long.
🔹 Part 3: The Moral Question
With billions spent on temples and millions starving, why does the Church continue to prioritize the dead over the living?
🔹 Part 4: A Call to Action
If you really believe in Christ and the Millennium, maybe skip the temple this weekend — and donate to a food bank instead.
📊 Data-driven.
📜 Doctrinally sound.
🧠 Morally urgent.
