EP 41 - Orgazmo (1997)
Running time: 94 minutes
Rated NC-17! So a caution to sensitive viewers out there!
Spoiler Alert

Synopsis Joe Young played by Trey Parker is a devout Mormon living in L.A. trying to raise enough money to go back to Utah and marry his girlfriend, Lisa played by Robyn Lynne. Joe is spreading the word about the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints one day when he’s confronted by two burly bodyguards. A scuffle breaks out, and Joe’s martial arts skills impress Maxxx Orbison played by Michael Dean Jacobs, this leads Elder Young to an adult film set, in which Maxxx casts unwitting Joe as a masked superhero named Orgazmo.

Joe is conflicted because of his beliefs, but the salary offered would pay for a wedding in the temple in Utah where his fiancée Lisa has expressed a strong desire to wed. Joe reluctantly accepts. The film becomes a surprise megahit, even in the mainstream, but Joe soon discovers Maxxx is a criminal with sinister plans. So Joe and sidekick Ben (Dian Bachar) become real superheroes to combat the evil director.

Film Background Orgazmo premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 1997. The Motion Picture Association of America gave the film an NC-17 rating, resulting in a very limited release in the US. There is an 'Unrated' version that was released on the two-sided DVD set along with the theatrical version.. I believe that if the film was released today, that it would probably have an R rating instead of an NC 17 rating.

"Orgazmo," a 1997 comedy film written, directed by, and starring Trey Parker, is a raunchy and irreverent romp that will undoubtedly appeal to fans of Parker's iconic work on "South Park." Filled with outrageous humor, crude jokes, and over-the-top scenarios, "Orgazmo" delivers exactly what fans of Parker's signature style have come to expect.

The film follows the misadventures of Joe Young (played by Trey Parker), a devout Mormon who inadvertently becomes a pornographic film star while trying to earn money for his upcoming wedding. With its absurd premise and off-the-wall humor, "Orgazmo" revels in pushing the boundaries of good taste, much like "South Park."

Fans of Parker's brand of satire and social commentary will find plenty to enjoy in "Orgazmo." The film doesn't hold back in its skewering of the adult film industry, organized religion, and societal norms, delivering biting commentary amidst the crude humor.

Parker's comedic timing and knack for delivering memorable one-liners are on full display in "Orgazmo," and his chemistry with co-star Matt Stone (who plays his sidekick, Choda Boy) adds an extra layer of hilarity to the proceedings.

While "Orgazmo" may not be for everyone due to its explicit content and offensive humor, fans of "South Park" and Parker's unique brand of comedy will undoubtedly find plenty to laugh at in this outrageous and unapologetically crude film.
