My Life Story: From Devout Mormon to Questioning Everything
Hi, I’m Dives—host of *Mormon News Roundup, Mormon Movie Reviews,* and *Real Talk Mormonism.* Today’s episode is different. I’m sharing my personal journey—documenting it for my kids, grandkids, and anyone curious about how I got here.
Born into an active LDS family in Salt Lake City’s Sugarhouse area, I was raised with weekly church, family prayers, and a deep sense of faith. I even have a legendary story of being healed by President Spencer W. Kimball as an infant. But despite the blessings, my childhood was tumultuous—especially when my father told me at age 8 that my parents were divorcing. This set me on a path of challenges, relocations, and deep soul-searching.
From a troubled youth to serving a mission, attending BYU, and marrying in the temple, my faith remained strong—until it didn’t. A moment of doubt while praying about a life-changing decision led me down a path of discovery, culminating in my loss of belief in the LDS Church. But I continued to attend, work at BYU, and even play in the Orchestra at Temple Square—living as a PIMO (Physically In, Mentally Out) for years.
Then in 2022, everything changed. I discovered *Mormon Stories*, read the *CES Letter*, and could no longer ignore the questions that had been building for years. That led me to co-found *Mormon News Roundup*, which has now reached over a million views across platforms.
Now, I’m left with one final question: Should I officially leave the LDS Church or retain my membership? I’d love to hear your thoughts—drop a comment below or email me
