Running time: 22 minutes

Synopsis
Bill Burch's short depicts a single woman returning to her hometown for a testimony meeting.

Background Most of the action takes place in the chapel. This dramatization, produced for LDS audiences by the BYU Motion Picture Studio, is allegedly based on a story by Elder Marion D. Hanks, a GA in the presidency of the 70; but I could not find the original source material. The short teaches love and concern for others. Noted LDS actor Gordon Jump is featured as the woman’s father

Brother Jump, who perhaps should place more emphasis on getting to church on time. was an American actor best known as the clueless, yet occasionally wise, radio station manager Arthur "Big Guy" Carlson in the TV series WKRP in Cincinnati. He played the part of Peter in the Temple Endowment movie.

Tina Cole, who plays Donna, who I do not believe was a member of the church, was born in 1943 in Hollywood, California, She is an actress and producer, known for Hawaiian Eye (1959), My Three Sons (1960) and To Rome with Love (1969). She was mostly active in the 60s and 70s.

Read weird beginning poem Filmmakers seem to infantilize the viewers with this poem. If Donna is frightened, it is probably because church leaders like Spencer Kimball have preached that having a baby out of wedlock is a sin second only to murder. If Donna lived 30,000 years ago, she would probably not be frightened about just telling her close tribe about her new baby, and the idea of marriage would have been irrelevant.

Conclusion Another tough review for me. Donna crying, never show a happy unwed mother, she has to be in sackcloth and ashes. This is an extremely uncomfortable movie, I watched it so many times and could not make it through because it just upset me time and time again. I know that these folks are just actors, and perhaps that is why I feel comfortable poking fun at them, but I wish that I could just go into this ‘so called testimony meeting’ and tell Donna that she doesn’t need to apologize to anyone for anything.
