🎬 Post-Mormon Cinema: Movies for Latter-Day Sinners. The wild and weird history of LDS on screen!
From silent film era smear pieces to modern-day cult classics, the depiction of Mormons in film has taken a truly wild ride. This deep-dive into *Post-Mormon Cinema* covers everything from Vincent Price playing Joseph Smith, to *Orgazmo*, *The Book of Mormon Musical*, and even *Mormon zombies*.
We explore:
- Early anti-Mormon propaganda films like *A Mormon Maid* and *Trapped by the Mormons*
- LDS-produced cinema from the 1950s through "MOLLYWOOD" in the 2000s
- Cult films like *Plan 10 from Outer Space* and *Electrick Children*
- LGBTQ+ love stories like *Latter Days* and *The Falls*
- True crime documentaries like *Murder Among the Mormons*, *Sins of Our Mother*, and *Keep Sweet and Obey*
- Recent horror-thrillers like *Heretic* and *Under the Banner of Heaven*
Plus, a bonus look at short films, satire, and shows that *wake you up* from religious delusion, including *The Invention of Lying* and *Them That Follow*.
Whether you're a believer, a doubter, or a straight-up exmo, this is Post-Mormon pop culture at its finest.
