Responding to Cardon Ellis of Ward Radio: A Deep Dive including never before seen interview!

Hey everyone, Dives here, the host of Mormon News Roundup (MNRU) and Mormon Meme Reviews (MMRs), talent on loan from Kolob! 🌌

I recently stumbled upon an intriguing Mormon channel called Faith in Focus, hosted by Latter-day Saint Nick Sales. With a mission to help others develop a stronger relationship and faith in Jesus Christ, Nick's channel has gained a solid following of 3,000 subscribers over the past year.

One video that particularly caught my eye was "Defending the LDS Church with Cardon Ellis from Ward Radio." For those who don't know, Ward Radio is the brainchild of Cardon Ellis, a radio host at FM98.1 and an independent filmmaker based in Los Angeles.

In this episode, I provide an extended breakdown of that video, respond to a clip that Ward Radio put up about me, and even have a brief interview with Cardon himself where we attempt to bury the hatchet.

Here’s a sneak peek of what’s in store:

Nick binge-watched 30 episodes of Ward Radio? Nick, are you okay, buddy? Ward Radio has a reputation that's... well, let's just say it's controversial.

Cardon’s stance on friendships post-Mormon Church exit. Spoiler: He’s not friends with ex-members. Let’s discuss why that’s problematic.

Did you know Cardon is also a part-time exterminator? His pest control live streams are something else!

The TITS program was supposedly successful? Let’s delve into that claim.

Ex-Mormons and their supposed "cruel" actions towards believing family members—how does this compare to the Church’s own historical actions?

Nick’s near-slip about having family members who left the Church and the implications of such admissions.

The persecution complex and the framing of believers vs. non-believers.

The evidence (or lack thereof) of Lehi's existence and the burden of proof in religious claims.

Cardon’s comparisons to Hitler—why such analogies are not just inaccurate but offensive.

The claim that no one cares if you leave the Church. Really, Cardon?

The flawed argument of the Church being either true or false without nuance.

Jacob Hansen’s “witness model” and its epistemological issues.

Misunderstandings about why people leave the Church and the role of doctrinal and historical issues.

Pressures to make quick decisions about Church membership—what’s the reality?

Cardon’s methodology for finding truth through prayer and its broader implications.

The circular reasoning in spiritual confirmations and the problems with Moroni's promise.

Why comparing Church membership to U.S. citizenship is a false analogy.

The Church’s selective history and its impact on believers.

Cardon’s personal relationship with faith and the evidence (or lack thereof) supporting it.

Misconceptions about morality and its independence from religious texts.

Join me as I dissect these points and more, and share your thoughts in the comments! Let’s engage in a meaningful dialogue and seek understanding together. 🌟
